BH Shepherd is an american storyteller

BH Shepherd is a writer, critic, and DJ based in Austin, Texas.

He is the author of two novels. Sweet Benny and the Sanchez Penitentiary Band follows a rock band of escaped convicts on the run, trying to play at Austin City Limits before their pasts, and the law, catch up with them. A Tale of Two Guns is a multi-generational revenge epic that explores the rich outlaw mythology of Texas, as seen down the barrel of two legendary pistols: The Wrath of God, and The Devil’s Iron.

BH Shepherd’s short stories range from post-modern Westerns to surrealist cyberpunk, and have appeared in publications like The Spark, Quarter-Passed, and Thuglit. His stories frequently feature capable but broken characters trying to survive a world that makes no sense, with themes of obsession, addiction, corruption and violence.

He has been a columnist at LitReactor for over a decade, and has published hundreds of essays and articles on topics such as mental health, comic books, and literary criticism. He also maintains a blog where you can read his thoughts on movies, videogames, music and literature.

And on the weekends, he is the DJ known as Doc Awesome. For over twenty years, he has spun an intoxicating mix of everything from classic funk to psychedelic trance in warehouses, nightclubs, and on the radio. You can listen to him on Mixcloud.

BH Shepherd is currently seeking talent and literary representation. He has a pilot about warriors captured across space and time trying to escape from an alien bloodsport arena.
